Nanny and Sitter Scholarships

Through financial donations by corporations and/or individuals, Amslee Institute is proud to offer a limited number of scholarships each year.

Herk Scholarship Description

The Herk Scholarship provides financial support for those seeking to start or advance their childcare career as a Sitter, Nanny, or Family Assistant. One selected applicant will receive an award equal to the institutional cost of attendance for the Intermediate Childcare Diploma program. An application is required and current students are eligible.

The Herk Scholarship program provides financial resources for one student to earn the Intermediate Childcare Diploma  and Certification (30 hours of online training). The scholarship recognizes service to the community, childcare leadership, and high moral character.

The Office of Admissions administers the scholarship opportunity, selecting a recipient from those who apply and qualify to receive up to $550 in tuition and fees.

The scholarship is open to students who have not enrolled yet and students who are enrolled in the Advanced,  Specialist, or Professional Childcare programs after March 1, 2019. If an enrolled student is selected, the student will be refunded tuition and fees for the awarded amount.

Herk Scholarship Requirements

To apply for the Herk scholarship, students must meet eligibility requirements that include technical and program requirements. Applicants must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or have a permanent resident card
  • Have earned a standard high school diploma or its equivalency
  • Eligible to enroll at Amslee Institute
    • Must be 18 years of age or older with government-issued identification with birth date
    • Be fluent in English
    • Transcripts of High School diploma, equivalent, or current enrollment
    • Certified in CPR and First Aid

The Herk Scholarship requires an application. Awards will be granted to one eligible applicant.

  • Download the Application form as a PDF (blank) or Word doc (fill in) file. If unable to download, you can request a copy of the application form by emailing admissions@amsleeinstitute.com and a file will be attached and emailed directly to you.
  • Complete all inputs including 2 written essays (250 words maximum) and sign.
  • Save or scan all pages into a single PDF file.
  • Email completed application (PDF file) to admissions@amsleeinstitute.com prior to the deadline.

Award Procedures and Disbursement

​Eligible and selected students will receive an award equal to the Amslee Institute Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced programs. The award may not be used to pay for remedial coursework or other education. When selected and notified, students must provide a government identification with birthday, copy of high school diploma or transcript, copies of CPR and First Aid certification, and sign Enrollment Agreement and Statement of Understanding prior to award disbursement. Amslee Institute will disburse awards to selected students.

Failure to Meet the Program Requirements and Appeal Process

A student who does not meet the program requirements shall be ineligible to continue in the program. An applicant may appeal to the institution by providing proof of illness or other emergencies beyond the applicant’s control. This appeal must be filed within 30 days.

Nivens Scholarship Description

​The Nivens Scholarship provides financial support for high school graduates seeking a career in childcare as a Nanny or Sitter. Eligible scholars will receive an award equal to the institutional cost of attendance for the Basic program. An application is required.​

Nivens Scholarship

The Nivens Scholarship program provides financial resources for those eligible to earn the Basic Childcare Diplomas and Certifications (20 hours of online training). The scholarship recognizes service to the community, childcare leadership, and high moral character.

The Office of Admissions administers the scholarship opportunity, selecting recipients from those who apply and qualify to receive up to $350 in tuition and fees.

The scholarship is open to students who have not enrolled yet and students who are enrolled in the Advanced,  Specialist, or Professional Childcare programs after August 15, 2019. If an enrolled student is selected, the student will be refunded tuition and fees for the awarded amount.
